This Bugeye was acquired in June 1995 as a bare body shell and boxes of loose parts. The parts had been "restored" by the previous owner. Or to be more accurate - they had been painted. Mostly in incorrect colours.

Between June and December 1995, the body shell was straightened, repaired and painted in Nurburg White. All components were either fully rebuilt (engine, gearbox, braking system, instruments) or replaced with new items (rubbers, wiring, switches etc). During this time, an original set of rubber floor mats was tracked down. A rubber case battery was made for the car, and the correct "helmet" terminals fitted. New Dunlop cross-ply tyres were imported from Zimbabwe, the only country that still made them to the original pattern.

Not surprisingly, the car placed 1st at the Sprite Car Club of Australia's annual Concourse.

The White car was sold in 2002 and now resides in Japan. The photos were taken just prior to it's departure, 7 years after restoration, hence the surface rust on some of the engine bay fittings. Sorry about that!
